Dave, can you explain to me what soft sci-fi is compared to hard? Thanks! -- SeanHess 20 Sep 2006 - 17:38:38
Probably more Star Wars than Asimov? Like what I call Science Fantasy instead of Sci Fi? -- TrevisMartin -- 20 Sep 2006 - 22:04:54
Oh, right... I like that better too. So, it means that not everything needs to be logical scientifically? Close? -- SeanHess -- 20 Sep 2006 - 22:38:46
Sean, use the Make a Comment! form for comments, otherwise you're adding junk entries to your coin accounting. I know it wasn't working but I fixed it. -- TrevisMartin -- 21 Sep 2006 - 00:00:34
Several attempts at posting later (mostly me forgetting to log in) - Yes, that's spot on. My idea (not sure if this is 'right') is that soft Sci-Fi does not require scientific justification for everything, whereas 'hard' sci-fi revels in the gory psuedo-scienific detail. I gues soft focuses on the'fi' and hard on the 'sci' -- DaveMG -- 21 Sep 2006 - 06:33:47
That's a good way to describe it, and I'm all for it! -- JohnHalsey -- 21 Sep 2006 - 13:53:06
Right on! (Sorry about not using the comment field) -- SeanHess -- 21 Sep 2006 - 15:11:47
